thingy は、名前のわからない物 or 人や、名前を言わなくてもわかる物 or 人をさす語。

e.g.) Ask thingy over there, he'll know. あそこにいる誰かさんに訊いてくれ。あの人なら知ってるはずだ。
whatsit も同じで、名前を思い出せない、あるいは言いたくないとき使う。
